First identify exactly what is being removed
A Spot pair is one market between a base asset and a quote currency. Removing that pair, removing an asset from all trading, and ending an exchange’s own bot service are different changes. Read the exact product, pair, effective time and timezone in the official notice. An announcement date is not necessarily the trading cutoff.
For example, Binance’s notice for 6 February 2026 distinguishes pair removal from token availability and separately addresses its Spot Trading Bots. It is a historical example, not a current list of affected markets. A venue’s bot-service notice does not describe what an independent SharkRule rule will do.
Trading, deposits, withdrawals and token migrations can have separate conditions and deadlines. Coinbase’s delisting guidance distinguishes these. Do not infer that a remaining balance is freely transferable, that conversion is automatic, or that a deadline from another asset applies. This guide concerns Spot mechanics; futures settlement and margin borrowing require their own documentation.
Read the current market state as well as the announcement
A price chart can remain visible while an action is restricted. Coinbase documents limit-only trading, which excludes market orders, and cancel-only trading, which permits cancellation but no new orders or fills. The Advanced Trade product API separately exposes these restrictions. Treat the current account’s market screen and the exchange documentation as evidence, not the presence of an old price.
Binance likewise separates symbol status from order status in its Spot documentation. A market halt cannot tell you how much one particular order filled. A normal market state also does not establish your account’s eligibility or approve a rule.
| Record | Question it answers | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Official notice | Which product, pair and cutoff? | Whether your order has already filled |
| Current market restrictions | Which actions are currently permitted? | Your rule has permission to change its action |
| Order and fill history | What happened to the submitted quantity? | The remaining holding has been sold |
| Asset balances and holds | What is held, available or reserved? | That a displayed valuation can be realized |
Follow the original order through to a known outcome
Keep the order identifier, pair, side, requested quantity, cumulative filled quantity, fees and last confirmed status. Compare open orders with order history and individual fills. An order disappearing from the open-order list alone does not distinguish a fill, cancellation or expiry; filters can also hide it.
A cancellation request is a request until its outcome is confirmed. Previously executed fills remain part of the record. If a response is missing, reconcile the original order before considering another submission: Binance’s REST documentation explicitly warns that a timeout can leave execution unknown.
Stopping new buys should not erase order tracking or an already approved exit. Check the scope of the actual pause control. In SharkRule, unresolved Binance order ambiguity continues to block further Binance submissions; a different venue’s status or a restart cannot release that record.
Worked example: cancellation leaves the filled assets in place
This is an invented accounting exercise, not a trade suggestion or a SharkRule execution test. Start with 100 quote-currency units and no units of a fictional base asset. A limit order requests 10 base units at 5 quote units each. Assume exactly 4 fill at 5 before trading stops, with a hypothetical fee of 0.02 quote units. There are no other transactions, holds or fees.
The filled cost is 4 × 5 = 20. The total debit is 20 + 0.02 = 20.02, leaving 100 − 20.02 = 79.98 quote units and 4 base units. The unfilled quantity is 10 − 4 = 6, worth 6 × 5 = 30 at the order’s limit. While that remainder is open, 30 quote units are assumed reserved in this simplified exercise: 79.98 − 30 = 49.98 are available. Real fee reserves and holds can differ.
If the cancellation outcome is unknown, keep the six-unit remainder unresolved. Only when a final record confirms that it was cancelled without additional fills can this exercise release the 30-unit reservation. The four purchased base units remain. Their current sale value is unknown; the old limit price does not make the account worth 100 again.
| Event | Base units bought | Unfilled quantity | Quote balance / available |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before the order | 0 | No order | 100 / 100 |
| Four units fill; remainder open | 4 | 6 open | 79.98 / 49.98 |
| Cancellation requested; no final result | 4 confirmed | 6 unresolved | 79.98 last confirmed; do not release reservation |
| Cancellation confirmed, no further fills | 4 | 6 cancelled | 79.98 / 79.98 |
A different pair is a different instruction
An available market for the same base asset may use a different quote currency, price scale, liquidity and order minimum. Copying the old numeric trigger or amount into it can change the instruction. The existence of another pair does not authorize conversion, a new buy, a sale or moving funds.
Review any proposed change as a fresh rule: exact asset and pair, amount and currency, entry, optional exit and limits. Preserve the original order and holding records. Do not add a sale to a purchase-only rule or assume a resumed market should automatically catch up on old signals. This is a review method, not a claim that SharkRule automatically detects delistings, migrates rules or liquidates assets.
Common mistakes and limits
Treating every rejection as delisting can hide an account restriction, an unsupported order type or an order-size filter. Repeatedly resubmitting does not diagnose the cause. Similarly, an exchange’s announced cancellation policy is not the final record for your particular order.
A stop or exit condition cannot guarantee a sale while trading is unavailable. Before a cutoff or after reopening, thin liquidity, spread, fees and slippage can affect execution; a limit order may never fill. Assets can lose value while a rule is paused. Exchange outages, custody risk and access restrictions remain.
This checklist cannot establish the status of a private account or promise recovery, transfer availability or a reopening time. If records disagree, keep the uncertainty explicit and ask the exchange for the original order’s outcome. Do not bypass regional restrictions.
A practical suspension or delisting checklist
- Save the official notice URL and observation time. Record the exact Spot pair, affected service, effective date and timezone, including separate asset deadlines.
- Check current restrictions in the correct exchange account. Distinguish the market state from the account’s permission to trade it.
- Inspect what pausing the rule actually pauses. Prevent unintended new submissions while preserving existing order, holding and approved-exit monitoring.
- Reconcile each original order with fills, fees, remaining quantity and terminal status. Keep unknown outcomes blocked; do not replace them with a guessed cancellation.
- Compare base and quote balances, available amounts and reservations. Retain evidence even if the pair no longer appears in the market selector.
- Before any later activation or changed pair, review the exact instruction and unchanged commitments. Obtain fresh approval for changes; a market reopening is not customer approval.
Use the rule worksheet to make the missing decision visible
Next, open the SharkRule rule worksheet linked below in Sources and related guides. Write the selected pair, order state, remaining holding and what must be verified before any new action. Compare that record with the controls actually available in your dashboard; leave missing behavior unapproved.
New real-money activation is not open. The initial customer release is being prepared for eligible UK residents with Coinbase Advanced Spot accounts; support depends on the current dashboard, account and location. SharkRule is independent software, without exchange affiliation or endorsement. We are not financial or investment advisors. This explains mechanics, not which assets, amounts or trades to choose.
Frequently asked questions
Does removing a pair mean the asset has disappeared?
The notice’s scope matters. One market can close while the asset remains in the account or other markets exist. Check balances and the asset-specific notice; do not assume another market or transfers are available to your account.
Does stopping a bot cancel its exchange orders?
Check the actual control. A pause on new submissions does not establish cancellation of earlier orders. Confirm each order and its fills at the exchange; stopping a rule also does not itself sell holdings.
Can an exit rule still sell during a suspension?
An approved condition does not override the market’s restrictions. An exit can remain unexecuted, and the holding can lose value. Check whether the order was submitted, accepted, filled or left unresolved.
What should a support request include?
Include the exchange, exact pair, order identifier, timestamps with timezone, relevant notice and last confirmed status. Describe any missing or conflicting fills. Redact unrelated personal information and never send API secrets, passwords or private keys.
