Understand KuCoin account access before connecting any automation. These instructions explain the provider’s setup process; a SharkRule connection for this exchange is planned.

Check access and account type

KuCoin is on SharkRule’s roadmap and is not available in the current dashboard. This guide explains the provider’s access and permissions. Wait until your dashboard offers the connection before creating or sharing credentials.

This supports KuCoin classic high-frequency Spot, not UTA, futures or margin. Check your account type and KuCoin’s eligibility requirements for your location. Funds remain at KuCoin.

Create the key on desktop or mobile

  1. Open https://www.kucoin.com/account/api in a browser and sign in. On desktop, you can also choose API Management from your profile.
  2. On a phone, use the official website in your browser. If controls are missing, request the desktop website or use a computer. App menus may differ.
  3. Choose Create API, then the manual API Trading route. Name the key clearly, for example SharkRule Spot. Do not select another third-party application.
  4. Choose and securely save an API passphrase. This differs from your login password, six-digit trading password and authentication codes.

Set permissions and the server IP

Enable General for account and order information, and Spot for trading. Leave Withdrawal, Transfer, InnerTransfer and FlexTransfers disabled. Margin and futures permissions are unnecessary.

Allowlist the exact IP on your signed-in SharkRule connection page, not your phone or home Wi-Fi IP. If no server address appears, stop; do not remove IP restrictions.

  1. Complete KuCoin’s security checks on KuCoin only. Never paste a trading password, email code or two-factor code into SharkRule.
  2. Save the newly issued API key and secret, together with your chosen API passphrase, in secure storage. Do not share them through email, chat or screenshots.

When the connection becomes available

Your dashboard will show the supported account type, credential fields and server IP when this connection is available. Follow those instructions then. Verifying a connection and approving a trading strategy are separate steps; reading this guide never activates trading.

Resolve verification problems

A passphrase error often means the API passphrase was confused with another password. Check all three credentials for missing characters or spaces. If the secret or passphrase is lost, create a replacement key; do not send it to support.

For permission or IP errors, check KuCoin’s saved settings. For account-mode errors, check classic/HF Spot rather than UTA. Check the trading account for unavailable balance. Do not enable withdrawals or bypass restrictions with a VPN.

Remove access at the provider

Review active orders directly at KuCoin. Delete the dedicated API key or revoke the API-wallet approval through its official settings to remove that access. Revocation does not sell holdings or undo orders already accepted. If credentials are exposed, revoke promptly and review the account’s activity.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my trading password instead of the API passphrase?

No. Use the passphrase chosen for that API key. KuCoin’s trading password and security codes belong only on KuCoin.
